Planet Show and Astronomy Talk with our Resident Astronomer Dr Adrian Jannetta FRAS (Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society). Dr Adrian Jannetta wrote a letter of support for the  Ingram Valley ‘See The Stars’ Rural Development Programme England in 2019 and became our Resident Astronomer. Join us at Ingram Village Hall to hear about astronomy and leading science on an incredible journey into space. See Dr Adrian Jannetta present photography from the North East and Ingram. Ingram is in Environmental Zone E0-50 within the Northumberland National Park. The Northumberland National Park officially has the most pristine dark skies in England. We are very fortunate to have very low levels of light pollution which means that we have some of the darkest most ‘pristine dark skies’ in England (CPRE Night Blight Report 2016), making Ingram one of the best places in GB to go stargazing!

Thanks to working with NASTRO, The Northumberland National Park Authority and Visit Northumberland we are committed to conserving the dark skies as best as we can. The whole of Northumberland National Park and most of Kielder Water & Forest became England’s 1st International Dark Sky Park in 2013. This designation was awarded by the International Dark Sky Association.

Hot food, cake and refreshments and a night time safari will be provided for the evening with our Resident Astronomer Dr Adrian Jannetta (FRAS).

These evenings are likely to be very popular so we recommend booking your tickets online in advance for a fascinating journey into space from the comfort of the Green Space that is Ingram Village Hall and our award winning Safari vehicle.

The Star Barn’s Astronomy Playing Cards: Inspired by Dr. Adrian Jannetta’s Breathtaking Astrophotography

Our new Astronomy Playing Cards, designed by Amala Parry (Newcastle University), combine our love for Northumberland’s mesmerising night skies with the enjoyment of a cosy games night.

As a perfect addition to our Star Barn, the Astronomy cards offer a fun way to explore the galaxies from the comfort of our cosy countryside cottage. Whether you enjoy in-depth card games or a quick game of snap, the Astronomy cards serve all the purposes of a regular deck of cards, but with an incredible twist!

Inspired by the wonderful photography of Resident Astronomer Dr Adrian Jannetta (FRAS), our Astronomy playing cards display a range of galaxies and constellations, from the better-known Andromeda and Milky Way to the lesser-known Nebulas such as the Rossette and North American Nebula, all of which can be seen in the Northumberland dark skies.

Stay at the Star Barn

Surrounded by the stunning scenery of Ingram Valley in the Northumberland National Park, The Star Barn is very aptly named, sitting in one of the best ‘dark skies’ astronomy areas of the country.

Beautifully renovated, and with all the modern amenities you could need for a relaxing break, The Star Barn is a perfect spot for a couples or small family to get away from it all.
